BOREHOLE – WELL – SPRING WATER
Underground water is an abundant but precious water reserve, and steps need to be put in place to use it sparingly and carefully. We offer a complete range of filtration technologies for purifying underground water because, in its natural state, it is unsuitable for human use and consumption.
Sediment filters are needed because underground water is cloudy. Particles in water will block plumbing systems and pumps, and leave unsightly staining. Particles contain toxic chemicals and bacteria.
We remove particles by effective filtration, using media which traps the particles resulting in the flow of clear water. Media used can be sand, filters, Ag or Carbon, depending on the water tests.
Ultra Violet sterilisation is the most effective way of eliminating bacterial contamination in private water supplies – such as Bore Holes, Spring and Well water.
It is always recommended that a UV sterilisation system is installed to cover all of the water used within a dwelling fed by a private water supply. This is because waterborne bacterial such as Coliforms and E Coli can be inhaled via shower and tap sprays, or of course, ingested via the cold water drinking tap.
UKh2o provides a complete range of single lamp UV systems ranging from 8 litres per minute to 167 litres per minute. Panel units with a lamp failure indicator and volt free contact are also available.
Ph CORRECTION FILTERS
Water with a Ph level of less than 7 is acidic and thus corrosive. This water erodes copper pipes and heating systems found in plumbing systems.
When copper dissolves it gets deposited on fixtures and fittings leaving green stains like verdigris – a sure sign. Raising the Ph level will neutralise water, stop erosion, remove metallic taste and reduce any iron or manganese contamination.
The simplest way to raise water Ph levels is to pass it through vessels containing slow soluble calcium and magnesium salts. These dissolve slowly and re-mineralise water gradually raising its Ph value. Media such as Juaperie and Corrosex are normally used.
Arsenic is present in many parts of the UK and mainland Europe. It emerges from underground rocks through which groundwater has percolated. Arsenic compounds are toxic, even at low levels; they can cause skin and liver disorders, circulatory problems and could be life-threatening.
Arsenic is removed with specially formulated filter media. We use media such as Bayoxide for Arsenic removal.
